Field of Dreams Journey

It's harvest time in the Community Allotment Garden. The parents who have worked hard in their gardens are reaping the benefit.

Each day they come and harvest vegetables for their families. At a time like this, they are guaranteed to have something to put on the table.

These are tough times, schools have closed and many young children depended on schools feeding schemes for a full tummy.

Resources deplete quicker with all the children present in the house during quarantine.

Day One of Feed a Child Outreach took place to help children in Child Headed Households and those from impoverished families. Extra preparations had to be made, taking into account all precautions during this pandemic.

At least 60 children were fed today. We expect more tomorrow.

Our plan includes teaching the young ones about Covid-19, practicing hygiene and the use of sanitizers to fight off diseases and viruses. Seating arrangement had to be 2 metres away from each other.

We made sure their hands, and containers are clean. We sent them home as soon as possible to prevent crowding. Groups of 9 were manageable at a time.

Let's keep the light of hope burning. Practice social distancing and self isolation. Pray for our country. Most importantly, make efforts to feed the less fortunate in these hard times.

You can help by sending non-perishable foods, or donation with the reference "feed a child".
